Our vision for the transformation of the 52-hectare site around the Eiffel Tower, from Place du Trocadero to the Ecole Militaire, was to quench the thirst of the city with the water that falls from the sky and let nature flourish.
We capture the rain from heaven and make full use of it on earth – and we do not waste a single drop. That is the narrative of the project. We use water as our building blocks to tell that story.
Paris has always recognised the vital importance of water in our cities from Haussmann’s water systems in the nineteenth century to the “Plan ParisPluie” of today.
The strategy is a very Parisian process of irrigation and renewal and a continuation of that visionary spirit. It is an expression of Paris’ global leadership in sustainability to bring nature back into the city.
