Sky Meeting Centre shortlisted for BCO Awards

News: 'The Hub' is recognised as example of best practice in office space design

Sky Meeting Centre “The Hub” has been shortlisted for the British Council of Offices (BCO) Awards.

The BCO annual Awards programme provides public recognition for top quality design and functionality and a benchmark for excellence in workplaces. The Awards acknowledge innovation and focus external attention on examples of best practice in office space design.

The Hub was the first building to be completed as part of AL_A’s masterplan for Sky’s Media Campus in Osterley, west London.

This meeting centre with offices, conference rooms and a restaurant creates a spectacular working environment for 400 people in a 65,000 sq. ft. building.

Inspired by Sky’s values of transparency and collaboration, the open and flexible spaces are designed in clusters of neighbourhoods to accommodate a new type of creative industry. Traditional distinctions between creative, technical, production and corporate are broken down through design, finding an inbetween collective and individual endeavour.

Sky are very proud that they started out in an industrial shed and this heritage is reinterpreted in this building. Inside the shed is an environment with exceptional daylight from north facing roof lights that not only meet the demands of Sky but are also an environmentally and economically efficient solution.

The architectural design promotes Sky’s vision providing spaces that reflect the dynamism and collaboration that is Sky.

Sky staff working in the building have described it as having “changed the way that we work”, “stunning”, “the greatest space I’ve ever worked in”, and having an amazing “buzz and vibe”.

The London and South East regional winner will be announced on 26 April 2016.
