The Globe Academy is an all-through school that replaced the Joseph Lancaster Primary School and the Geoffrey Chaucer Technology College on a site at Harper Road, off New Kent Road, Southwark. Sited within a socially deprived area, the Globe Academy demonstrates the potential not only to create new beginnings for pupils, but also to act as a motivator for learning and a catalyst for welcoming and engaging with the wider community of Southwark.
The Academy is the embodiment of our belief that the qualities of the environment in which you learn, and in particular light, space, colour and sound, make a real difference to how quickly you learn and how much you enjoy learning. We aspired to making the learning spaces beautiful and inspirational and to create a positive experience for all those involved in the learning process.
Nurturing and educating from infant to teenager, the Academy delivered ARK’s highly aspirational brief for ‘schools within schools’ that demanded each school has a separate identity while at the same time working within the concept of a campus.
